Creating Lasting Change

The following exercise will help you understand how bullying, social exclusion and discrimination can flourish. The goal is to explore what we can all do to support young people being safe, strong and free at home and at school.

Consider the following four questions:

  1. What are some forms of bullying that you have observed in adults, for example, on television, in different contexts and at all levels of society, at work, in the community, and so on.
  2. According to your observations, what are the differences and similarities between bullying by adults and by children?
  3. What approaches adopted by schools to prevent bullying might work in other contexts, such as in the community and society?
  4. Name three things you feel you can do to prevent bullying in your child’s school, community and society in the long term?
